Pumpkin Patch

This morning we woke up and took a trip to a nearby pumpkin patch with Clayton's Mom, Grandma, his brother, girlfriend, and my nephew. I knew Madi would have fun because she had a blast last year. Now that she's older, she can get into it and understand it more. We went to the Old Time Christmas Tree Farm in Spring, Tx. They have so much for the kids and families to do like hay rides, animals, bouncy houses, and a million cute props and places set up to take cute pictures. AND, it's only $3 to get in :)     She was so excited to see all of the pumpkins!

We ended up buying two big pumpkins and taking them home, and we stayed for a couple of hours even though it was burning up. I asked Madi if she was ready to go and she would say, "no, I want to play!" But after awhile, we all needed some A/C, and food. So we went and had lunch then headed home.

I bought some kids washable paint at Target the other day and decided that I would let Madi paint her pumpkins with that when we got home. I haaate carving pumpkins, like with a passion. So I am not going to do that unless her Daddy is around to help me (or do it for me). So since he was resting for work, we went out on the balcony, laid an old pillowcase under the pumpkins, and I let her paint away.

 

I thought that she would be hesitant to get the paint all over her hands, but boy was I wrong. She slapped her hand down in the paint and started rubbing it all over the pumpkins. So now we have a purple pumpkin and a pink pumpkin. Our balcony (and us) are a little colorful now. Madi went straight to the bath afterwards and I'm headed there soon. She had a lot of fun though. :) it was a lot funner than carving the huge things too, which in my opinion is just a chore (party pooper, I know).

 

We're both really tired, and headed to bed. It has been a very long day. But I do plan on posting soon about her success with going from cosleeping, to sleeping all by herself in her big girl bed in her room! Also, more about how we're settling in. Stay tuned :)

 

 

       

The Potty Training Games

I don't know where to start! I began potty training Madi Thursday evening. I'm thankful to say that we've (both) made big strides since then.

Thursday evening, I put Madi in panties and told her to throw her last diaper away. She threw it in the trash and said "bye bye diaper!" Then the "games" began. I had bought about 18 pairs of panties for her knowing that she would go through them quick the first day or so. Boy was I right. I was throwing panties in the washer about every 5 minutes. She went through them like it was going out of style. "Mommy, I peed!" was beginning to get old.

Friday, she was still trying to grasp the idea of what she was doing. She had many accidents but she also successfully peed on the potty many times too. I could tell she was grasping the idea better and also working on holding it too.

Saturday, she made big progress. She only had a few accidents and I took her to the potty about every half hour which helped lower the amount of accidents as well. She was really getting comfortable using the potty as well.

As we end day 3 of potty training, I'm so very proud of her. She's only had 3 accidents today total. She's also used the potty many many times successfully. But we have one problem... She won't poop on the potty. It seems like she's scared to. I sat with her for 20 minutes at the potty because she said her belly hurt. I could tell she needed to go but wouldn't. Then she had an accident once I let her get off.
