Madi started back to daycare and did wonderful. She only cried for a couple of minutes when I dropped her off on the first day, and that was about it. Her teachers said that she napped, ate, and played with her friends. I was so relieved to hear that I had worried about her all day for nothing. Sometimes I can't believe how independent she is, since when I was little, I was absolutely dependent on my mommy. :)
Not too long after that, I decided that it was time to get rid of her "sucker." I started to only give her the pacifier when she really needed it, like naptimes, etc. Then, I took it away for the day times. She was a tad fussy and kept asking for it but overall, she did a whole lot better than I had expected. (In my head all I could see were screaming and tears, from both of us!) Then it came to taking it away completely. This was my biggest worry since she had never had to fall asleep without it - ever. The first night, she cried for about five minutes and then fell asleep. I thought I was in heaven! The next night, no crying. She played with her babies and then laid down and went straight to sleep. Taking her pacifier away has been a worry of mine for months, and it was a peice of cake. (thank goodness)
